The Kyoto University Fixed Field Alternating Gradient Accelerator Complex (KUFFA) was developed as a proton driver for the Accelerator Driven System (ADS) at the Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University.

In March 2009, the world’s first ADS experiment was carried out by combining the sub-critical reactor at Kyoto University (KUCA) and neutrons from the nuclear fission process induced by the proton beam of 100 MeV from KUFFA.

Using KUFFA, fundamental research on ADS has been continued and many research activities in material science and medical fields are extended.

EPICS has been introduced as the control system of KUFFA since 2009.
